The Bert’s Brewing story begins with Rob’s deep-rooted passion for brewing, which took shape during his early days as a 17-year-old homebrewer hobbyist. Immersed in books and learning everything he could about beer, he embarked on a journey to explore the brewing world.
With unwavering dedication, Rob’s path led him to various roles within the brewing industry, culminating in a transformative experience at the World Brewing Academy through Siebel and Doemens in Germany. There, he became the youngest person in the United States to earn his Master Brewer’s Certification, unveiling a world of brewing excellence and tradition.
Meanwhile, Sidney discovered her own love for beer working at a small restaurant in Newport Beach. As she climbed the ranks to a managerial position, she curated rotating tap lists, allowing her to explore and appreciate a vast array of beers from around the globe. Her passion for breweries grew, as she embarked on a personal mission to visit every brewery in Orange County, ticking them off one by one on a brewery map.
Fate intervened when Sidney found herself working as a bartender at Chapman Crafted in Old Towne Orange, where she met Rob, who was working as the lead brewer when he came back from Germany. Their shared love for the craft and a serendipitous connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership (and eventually marriage). Together, they embarked on a journey, ultimately leading them to Boise, where they sought to build a life centered around family and community.
Driven by their shared vision, Rob and Sidney set out to establish Bert’s Brewing, a true labor of love dedicated to brewing extraordinary beer. Their story intertwines passion, education, and a deep appreciation for the craft. Each pour from Bert’s Brewing represents a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other and to creating balanced and exceptional beers for their community to enjoy.

Raised in Eagle, Idaho, Alan's love for the outdoors – skiing, mountain biking, camping –is matched only by his passion for craft beer. Ignited by early encounters with beer reps during his college years, he built an impressive career in the industry over the last decade selling and representing beer.
When not representing Bert's, Alan enjoys exploring the beauty of Idaho's outdoors. He's also a big fan of live music, collecting vinyl records, and movie nights (especially films by Wes Anderson or Quentin Tarantino – he's notorious for dropping movie quotes!). While his sports loyalties (Kraken, Chargers, Nuggets, Giants) are diverse, his love for beer is undeniable.
Alan recently celebrated 3 years of marriage, and they're expecting their first child, a baby girl, in August! They share their home with Bolt, their adorable German Shepherd/Pitbull mix.

As Northwest as they come, Steven's journey started in Montana and expanded through the coasts of Oregon and the dense forests of Washington, where he finally settled here in Idaho. Originally from California's wine country, Kim and her family consider Idaho home after settling here nearly 20 years ago (before it became trendy!). Kim loves camping trips, hanging with her family, and curling up with a good murder mystery. Though an empty nester now, her two adorable (and energetic!) pups keep her plenty busy.
By day, Kim utilizes her business finance skills. But at Bert's Brewing, she gets to combine her love for connecting with people with her growing knowledge of the craft beer industry. She enjoys getting to know customers, exchanging stories, and creating a welcoming atmosphere where friends and family can come together and connect.
Married to a homebrewer, her curiosity about beer extends beyond the tap. She's celebrated/famous around town for hosting "Brewday Dinners" where she gets to showcase her culinary talents and her shared passion for beer with her husband.
Fun Fact: Back in California, Kim's neighbors were brewing legends – Natalie and Vinnie of Russian River Brewing Company!
